When I showed this painting to my professor from the art university in Bucharest-Virgiliu Parghel- he started shouting at me: How can you bring something like this in here? Aren’t you ashamed? What is the matter with you? Why are you showing me something so horrible? Look children...there is a woman with a sliced throat in his painting! Hey Boy, don’t you have a mother? Do you hate women?

Dear mister Parghel , I was too surprised to answer you then, but I will do it now.

It is a painting about a Christian martyr. If you look on her belly you will see a sign as being carved with a knife. It is a fish. An old Christian sign. So …she died for her faith. And we all know that the martyrs had violent deaths. But the painting is not so terrible as it looks. Her corpse is standing on a field full with white flowers-symbol of purity, and on her face you wont find any hate. So she was making up with her killers before she died.

And my dear mister Parghel…do you think it was better if I was painting a Martyr in a white dress with nice breasts and a beautiful face, with her hair flowing down her shoulders? I could do that…but it is a lie. The martyrs where tortured, were mocked, beaten to death, thrown to the lions…
